Services included within your healthcare membership

We've teamed up with your employer to help you look after your health and wellbeing. With a Benenden Health membership, you have access to a range of private healthcare services all for just £15.50 per person, per month that you can pay through your salary. 

What’s more, when you join through your employer healthcare scheme, you can access all the services straightaway, including those that would normally have a six-month or 24-month wait. With a Benenden Health membership, you can access care such as 24/7 GP and Mental Health helplines, plus speedy access to services such as Physiotherapy, Medical Diagnostics and Surgical Treatment. 

 

  The following services usually have a six-month or 24-month wait, but you can access these straightaway as part of your employer benefit. 

Simple, smart and affordable healthcare
  • Simple – everyone is accepted for the same price with no exclusions for pre-existing conditions.

  • Smart – we complement the great work of the NHS and exclude some of the major things they do well.

  • Affordable – only £15.50 per person, per month, with no quotes and no excesses to pay. The price doesn’t rise with age or service use but is reviewed annually.

We were founded in 1905 to bring people together to pay for medical care when they might need it, and we continue to exist for the sole benefit of our members and remain a not-for-profit organisation. 

We offer an affordable alternative to health insurance for only £15.50 per person, per month. 

  • We have a national network of over 500 facilities providing members with access to diagnostic consultations and tests.

  • We also have a national network of 43 specialist hospitals which includes five hospitals for paediatric services at which we can authorise your surgical and other treatment procedures.

  • Members living within our calculation of a two hour drive time of the Benenden Hospital will undergo their diagnostic and surgical treatment services at Benenden Hospital which is a CQC 'Outstanding' rated hospital. Subject to the availability of the required specialty.

You can call the 24/7 GP Helpline to book an appointment with a UK‑based GP for you and your family as soon as you join.


You can also request access to Physiotherapy, Diagnostics and Surgical Treatment when there's a wait above our current NHS wait time threshold.

Important information for accessing our services 

We complement the NHS by offering access to private healthcare when members experience delays with NHS appointments. We’re aware that the private healthcare network is also facing demands due to the pressures within the NHS. Your consultant/healthcare provider will be able to give you guidance, should you face any delays in accessing the service you need.

Service exclusions

There are limits and exclusions which apply to your membership. Our healthcare services are provided on a discretionary basis and are subject to the resources we have available. Some cases can be dependent on a referral by a qualified NHS practitioner. NHS wait times and the type of treatment required.  Examples of medical treatment not on our approved procedures list are joint replacements, and brain, heart and cancer treatment.   • Offer only applies when you join through your employer by completing the employee opt-in form and sending it to your employer.

  • E-gift cards will be sent via email within 52 days of the new member's join date and they must be current members at the point the gift card is sent.

  • A valid email address must be included in your Opt-in form to receive this offer.

  • No alternative to this promotion will be offered.

  • To receive this offer, all new members' start dates must be between the 1 October 2024 to 1 November 2024.

If you decide to join, your employer will deduct your membership from your salary. It’s all taken care of for you.

Read and save a copy of your Guide to Services booklet and Insurance Product Information Document (IPID)

If you have a company intranet where you can sign up, log in to your company intranet today. Otherwise, download and fill out the Employee opt - in form.

Remember, you can add family to your membership for £15.50 per person, per month by including them in the opt-in form. 

You have 60 days from your membership start date to add family and they too will be able to access to all our services straightaway. 

Otherwise, any family added after 60 days will have:

  • Immediate access to the following services: 24/7 GP Helpline, 24/7 Mental
    Health Helpline and Care Planning and Social Care Advice

  • A wait of six months for the following services: Medical Diagnostics,
    Physiotherapy, Mental Health Support, Cancer Support and Treatment of Tuberculosis

  • A six months wait to access Surgical Treatment for residents of England,
    Wales or Scotland or a 24 months wait for residents of Northern Ireland

To add family to your membership, simply add them to the Opt-in form. 

Send the form to your HR department and they’ll process your request. Once your details have been passed to us by your employer, we’ll send you your membership pack using the email you've supplied on the employee opt-in form. Your membership pack has the information about your membership such as your membership number, start date and everything you need to know about how to access our services.
