We complement the NHS
We don’t replicate some of the major services provided by the NHS such as joint replacements, brain, heart or cancer treatment.
Access Diagnosis and Surgical Treatment when NHS wait times are too long
For some services we'll ask for a NHS referral and are subject to NHS wait times.
Services are provided on a discretionary basis
To keep our costs low, we review what we offer from time to time to make sure we can provide the best member care, regardless of age and pre-existing medical condition.
We're not a health insurance provider

We have a network of facilities providing members with access to surgical treatment. This network includes our own Benenden Hospital located in Kent.

How Benenden Health works
We're not for profit and proud if it. So no shareholders, we put the needs of our members at the heart of everything we do.
Our discretionary model
We work on a discretionary basis, which means that the Board decides which services are provided and what's available in each service. The exception is for tuberculosis treatment, which we offer on an insured basis.
Our rulebook
We operate according to our rulebook, which contains the Benenden Healthcare Society Limited's memorandum and rules.
